What should you expect from Chiropractic?
Your 1st Visit
Like most visits to the doctorís office, your first visit will include filling out some paper work. For your convenience we have our paper work available on this website for you to print off and fill out to bring in with you. This will give you plenty of time to make sure you get things right and save you time sitting in the reception room.

At your first visit you will sit down with one of the doctors in a private treatment room and go over all aspects of your problem. The chiropractor will take a thorough history of your problem, asking you a number of specific questions, in order to help properly diagnose the cause of your problem. Drs Collin and Alorna love to hear what you have to say so talk as much or as little as you are comfortable with.
After hearing your history, the doctor will perform a concentrated examination of the injured area which may include inspection, palpation, range of motion testing, orthopedic and neurological testing. If it is determined to be medically necessary, an x-ray may need to be taken. X-rays are available on site and are read by both chiropractors and often an off site radiologist. Not all patients have x-rays taken and it is never mandatory.
Once all examinations have concluded you will sit down with one of the doctors and receive a report of findings. Here the doctor will explain all of the exam findings, speak with you about possible causes of your injuries, and give you recommendations for treatment. The doctor will also address any questions or concerns you might have about your x-rays, diagnosis, and treatments. Donít be afraid to ask questions because there is no such thing as a dumb question. Drs Collin and Alorna want to make sure you fully understand every step of your care process in the office. They will outline your specific treatment plan which may include a combination of chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, stretching, muscle work, and nutrition.
Your Chiropractic Treatments
Once you and the doctor agree on the proper treatment plan, chiropractic care is much like trips to the physical therapist. Your treatment sessions will typically last between 10 and 45 minutes and will be preformed by one of the doctors in a private treatment room. In the beginning of your treatment you will probably need to come 2-3 times in a week until your pain is under control and your body begins to stabilize. From there the treatment and frequency of care will be altered in order to match your improving status. We begin to space out the treatment sessions as your pain levels normalize to allow the body to naturally stabilize the area. When the body is completely healed, many of our patients elect to continue care on a maintenance basis in order to stay loose and aligned and avoid reoccurring injury. Others prefer to discontinue care and remain on a call-in basis in case the problem returns.
